What this is

Drizzle Wizard is a weather dashboard built and run by a small independent team in Colorado, USA. It blends five public weather models, scores them against what actually happened, and tells you the forecast with honest uncertainty. It is free to use and carries no advertising. We intend to keep it that way for as long as we possibly can. If running costs ever force a change, the free, self-hostable version will remain — that is a founding commitment, not a marketing line.

⚠️ The important one: don't bet your safety on us

Drizzle Wizard is provided for general information. It is not a safety-of-life service. For severe weather decisions — evacuations, travel in dangerous conditions, marine or aviation use — always follow your national meteorological agency and local authorities. Where we show official alerts, they are relayed for convenience and may be delayed or incomplete.

Terms of Service

As-is. The service is provided without warranties of any kind. Forecasts are probabilistic by nature; we show our uncertainty rather than hide it, but we can still be wrong.
Fair use. Personal and household use is unrestricted. Automated/high-volume access goes through the API/MCP interface with an access key; unkeyed scraping may be rate-limited or blocked. Don't resell access to our endpoints without asking us first.
Access keys are personal, revocable, and rate-limited. We may disable keys that are abused or shared publicly.
Attribution of sources. The wizard stands on open data and we credit it gladly: Open-Meteo (CC-BY 4.0), the US National Weather Service, Copernicus/ECMWF (ERA5), RainViewer, © OpenStreetMap contributors & CARTO (basemaps), Wikimedia (On This Day), and somethingweird.today (activity picks).
Changes. We may update these terms; the "last updated" date changes when we do. Material changes will be noted on the dashboard.
Governing law: Colorado, USA.

Privacy Policy

Short version: there are no accounts, we don't want your personal data, and we never sell anything about you to anyone.

What stays on your device

Your preferences (units, language, last place viewed) live in your browser's localStorage and are never transmitted to us.

What reaches our server

The place names or coordinates you look up (needed to answer the request). These are cached briefly for performance, not linked to you, and not used to build profiles.
Standard web-server logs (IP, timestamp, path) kept briefly for abuse prevention and debugging.
If you use an access key: the key, its label, and daily usage counts — nothing else.

Third parties involved in serving you

Cloudflare proxies our traffic (DDoS protection, caching). They process your IP per their policy.
Google Analytics gives us aggregate visit counts so we know if anyone's out there. It sets cookies and processes your IP per Google's policies. If you block it, everything still works — we deliberately keep the site fully functional under ad/tracker blockers.
Map, radar, and history panels load tiles/text directly from CARTO, RainViewer, and Wikimedia; your browser's requests to them are governed by their policies.
Ask the Weatherman (when available): your question plus the relevant weather data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to compose the answer. Per Anthropic's API terms, that data is not used to train their models. We don't store your questions beyond short-lived rate-limit counters.

Your rights

We hold essentially nothing about you, which makes GDPR/CCPA-style requests pleasantly boring: there is no profile to export and nothing personal to delete. If you believe we hold something of yours, or have any privacy question, email [email protected] and a human will answer.
